Well, seems like I will do my old habit again. Actually I'm a bit confused about what to write. After some searching i think I will write about one of my favorite singer group, maybe you could say boyband, but well this group has its own uniqueness that make them different that others (maybe, I am too biased, well yeah I am). It can't be said as biography or discography, it just some brief summary, like flash news maybe haha. Well, I just want to tell you about my favorite singer *grin.
It's not a new group actually. It's one of Johnny's Entertainment idol, Kanjani8 (関ジャニ∞) or you can read it kanjani eito, with 8 character was written as infinity. The group was formed in 2002, but debuted two years later. This group consisted of 8 members, that is Ryo Nishikido, Subaru Shibutani, Yasuda Shota, Ryuhei Maruyama, Shingo Murakami, Yuu Yokoyama, Hiroki Uchi, and Tadayoshi Ohkura. It was a group that formed from Kansai Juniors in Johnny's Entertainment.
Before we moved, Kansai (関西-地方) is a name of region in Japan. Kansai region include perfecture of Mie, Nara, Wakayama, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyougo, and Shiga. It also be said that Fukui, Tokoshima, and Tottori also included as Kansai Region. As a group that formed in Kansai, this group bring a cheerful, happy, easy going image, like people in Kansai.
Before it debuted, this group was consisted of 7 people, later on Ohkura tadayoshi joined them. He was joined because Yasuda and Maruyama asked the agency for it. The reason was because Ohkura has a good rhythm when playing a drum. A drum? Isn't it a boyband? Yup, this is one of their uniqueness. Each of them could play music instrument, except Yuu Yokoyama. Ryo, Uchi, Subaru, Yasuda could play guitar, which Yasuda was the lead guitarist of the band. Maruyama can play bass, Ohkura can play drum, and Murakami can play keyboard. Later on, in their newest video Yuu usually will play percussion.
In 2003, Nishikido and Uchi also joined in boyband named NEWS (along with Taka from One Ok Rock at first), although they still active in Kanjani8. A year later their CD debuted was released, with single titled Naniwa Iroha Bushi, but none of them aware of this. They knew it when they see it in newspaper. This single has an enka genre (Japanese traditional music) with rap in it. Although it only released in Kansai and has a minim promotion, this single got 1 place in enka oricon chart, and 8 place in oricon chart. After that, they also released their second single titled Osaka Rainy Blues. Despites, their increasing popularity, in 2005 Uchi was arrested due to drinking under age. After that Uchi status was declared hiatus, but later on the agency stated that Uchi was dismissed from the group and will focused on acting.
The things that I really admired of them, is despite their age. I mean they already debuted for almost 11 years. They still consistent bring their image a cheerful and positive. They also has their own character as Eito Ranger which every of them has their own color image. Yokoyama is black, Subaru is red, Murakami is purple, Maruyama is orange, Nishido is yellow, Yasuda is blue, and Ohkura is green. And they has their own film for this, Eito Ranger, and Eito Ranger 2. They also played along crayon shinchan (an anime character) in thei music video named T.W.L.
Although, they usually has a comical appearance, especially in their music video. They seems like to formulate new things. In their music video called Fight For The Eight, you can see the other side of them. Well, yah in some part of video I still can see their humor. I laughed when Maruyama was taking photo of a girl and get punched. But, still this video give me a shock, it really what can I say, unique. They seem walk out from their comfort zone, but the result is really good. Thumbs up for them. In other video like Tsubusa ni Koi, Ai deshita, etc they show off their band skill. Each member did really best handling their own music instrument. Personally, (because I like people who play bass) I think Maruyama is really cool whem he play bass. Well, seeing him serious is really rare actually. Yasuda also did a great job as lead guitaris, especially when you see him in Fight For The Eight. And yeah it's really personally, i don't ask you to agree with me, but somehow Yasuda has a resemblance of Taemin Shinee. I think I fangirling too much zzz.
After all, this group is really a great. I started being fans in 2006, and still do now. Yeah I just don't get bored of them. First I see them as a group that sang a modification of Japanese traditional music, then I see them as a group full of humor, later I see them as a band. How could you get bored from that? Hahahaha.
